Hyper Tension

Hypertension is a condition that occurs due to rising levels of blood pressure in the arteries. It is also known as high blood pressure. There are very few symptoms that help diagnose high blood pressure or hyper tension, however, long term existence of the condition leads to severe health risks like heart attacks, loss of vision, chronic kidney diseases, stroke etc. High blood pressure may be primary or secondary in nature. Primary high blood pressure is usually due to genetic factors or lifestyle factors that are a direct result of excessive intake of high cholesterol foods, salt, increased body weight, smoking and alcohol consumption. Secondary high blood pressure occurs due to conditions like birth control pills, narrowing of kidney arteries, endocrine disorder etc. Since hyper tension rarely shows specific signs, it may lead to serious consequences in the patients and signs like dizziness, palpitation, fatigue, difficulty in breathing, nervousness etc should not be taken lightly and appropriate guidance should be taken from a specialist or a practitioner.

In Ayurveda, hyper tension is caused due to imbalance in Vata and Pitta doshas. These doshas are affected due to a stressful and hectic lifestyle, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption and excessive intake of oily food, fast food and salt. Patients diagnosed with hyper tension are observed for signs of anger, frustration, anxiety and fear. These symptoms mainly affect the endocrine system and leads to hyper tension. At Green Gram Wellness Village, we chart programmes for our guests diagnosed with an imbalance in Vata and Kapha doshas and the programmes, specific to the conditions, include Ayurvedic medicines and therapies, dietary amendments, exercise routines like Yoga Asanas and meditation for long term healing. We have elaborated the treatments below for your understanding.

  1. Ayurvedic Therapies – At Green Gram Wellness Village, we follow a combination of stress relieving and detoxification techniques with the help of natural herbs and herbal oils. We have elaborated a few techniques below for you.

    1. Abhyangam – For abhyangam, we prepare a mixture of herbal oils that has proven useful to nourish the skin and the body and relieves stress. Our experienced practitioners massage the patients with this herbal oil mixture all over the body. This therapy balances the vata dosha, increases blood circulation, reduces wrinkles, helps maintain a serene glowing skin and relaxes the stressed muscles in the body.

    2. Herbal Poultices – This technique involves herbal mixes and medicated powders tied in bundles in a muslin cloth. At Green Gram Wellness Village, we prepare these bundles by carefully sorting and choosing the right herbs and herbal powders. We then dip the bundles in our special concoction of our medicated oils and massage them on the patient’s body. This therapy promotes blood circulation, reduces muscle stress, increases perspiration and further allows proper detoxification.

    3. Shirodhara – In shirodhara, we maintain a constant stream of a medicated liquid on the forehead. We make arrangements for the patients to lie down conformably on a wooden bed and place their head under a vessel designed to maintain a continuous stream of the medicated liquid. The medicated liquid is our custom made mixture that is made of handpicked herbs, oils and buttermilk or milk. This therapy improves blood circulation around the eyes and the forehead, relieves stress, activates the crown chakra and nourishes the scalp. We give the patient this treatment for at least 30 minute every sitting and recommend more sittings to cure headaches completely.

  2. Diet – At Green Gram Wellness Village, we plan diet plans that involves complete vegetarian menu charted for all the guests. The menu is low cholesterol with appropriate vegetables, fruits and dairy products. We make sure to manage the intake of caffeine and salt to ensure good results. Our programmes help reduce body fat and maintain appropriate body weight while you enjoy your blissful stay with us.
